Landowner Partnership Process

Initial Call

We reach out to introduce ourselves, learn more about your property and share what we're building. If the land is a fit, we put an offer in writing with annual payments during an option period. You would keep using your land as you do today.

Site Evaluation

Our team takes care of all technical and regulatory work. We coordinate any site access in advance in order to minimize any disruption.

Development

We work through the necessary approvals and studies to advance the site. We engage with local authorities early and build a clear, well-structured path forward to bring the project to construction.

Construction & Delivery

Once the project is designed and approved, it moves into construction. Throughout this process, we follow all rules, regulations, and best practices regarding constructing a project. Once complete, it's commissioned and allowed to push energy to the grid.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of facilities would actually be built on my land?

Every project is different. At all sites, there will be electrical infrastructure like a substation, transmission lines, and switching equipment. Depending on the site’s power capacity, that could be paired with battery storage, renewable generation, or large commercial facilities like a data center. We evaluate each property individually based on grid access and local conditions.

My land is currently in agricultural use. Does that disqualify it?

Many of the best transmission-adjacent sites are currently in agricultural use. Contract structures can be designed to allow continued farming or ranching during development evaluation periods, and can be phased to minimize disruption to your operations.

What kinds of projects would be developed on my land?

Infrawatt develops sites for utility-scale energy generation and high-capacity industrial power loads "energy parks". The type of project depends on grid conditions, site characteristics, and market demand. We'll discuss the type of project with you upfront.

How long does the process take?

From first conversation to a signed contract is usually a few weeks to a couple of months.
